Hi Friend,

Let’s talk about decluttering versus organizing.

We tend to use those words interchangeably, but they’re actually two different parts of the process.

Decluttering comes first. Organizing comes next.

Organizing is really the umbrella term. It’s about creating systems and deciding how you’re going to store, access and use the things you have — both physically and digitally.

But before you can create those systems, you have to figure out what actually needs to stay.

That’s where decluttering comes in.

Decluttering is the sorting and decision-making part. It’s looking at what you have and deciding what you actually need, use and want to keep.

And honestly? This is where things can get hard.

You have to ask yourself some tough questions:

  • Do I use this?
  • Do I like it?
  • Is it still useful?
  • How often do I actually use it?
  • Do I have space for it?
  • Could I borrow this if I needed it instead of keeping it?
  • Does it fit?
  • Is it broken?
  • Would I buy this again today?
  • Will I actually display this?

Sometimes the answer is obvious.

Sometimes it isn’t.

And when the answer still isn’t clear, that’s when you need to go a little deeper and ask yourself the tougher questions.

Because clutter is delayed decisions.

Every time we avoid making a decision about something, we keep it and set it aside. And when we do that over and over again, those delayed decisions start piling up around us.

The good news?

You don’t have to make every decision perfectly. You just have to make the decision.

Keep it. Donate it. Toss it. Sell it. Give it to someone who can use it.

Once you start making those decisions, you can reduce — and sometimes even eliminate — all the clutter.

And yes, I know those decisions can feel hard.

That’s where I can help.

If looking at a room full of stuff and trying to decide what stays feels completely overwhelming, let’s do it together.

I can help you ask the right questions, work through the answers and make decisions based on your goals, your life and how you actually use your space.

Because decluttering isn’t about getting rid of everything.

It’s about making room for what matters.

And once we’ve made those decisions?

Then the real fun of organizing can begin.

We can create systems that make sense for you, your home and your life — so the things you keep actually have a place and are easy to find and use.
