Hi Friend,

Listen—I think this month feels overwhelming for a lot of us. There is so much happening at home, at school, and in our personal lives. It might feel like you’re playing catch-up, which means getting to those organizing projects might feel completely out of reach, and keeping up with the clutter can feel daunting.

I get it. I’ve been there.

Make it bite-sized.

Isn’t there that saying that the only way to eat a horse is one bite at a time? Is it a horse, or am I making that up? Either way—ewwwww! 😂

But I think you get the idea. Let’s take a small bite out of things so we can make some kind of progress. Because any kind of progress feels good, and when you combine feeling good with progress, you get momentum.

And before you know it, the project is done—or at least you’ve done something you’re proud of.

So I’m going to give you a little jump-start. Here is one thing to toss or organize in each of these rooms:

Bathroom

Toss expired medicine and skincare products.

If there’s nothing expired, great! Use this quick time to separate your ingestible medicines from your topical products. That’s a good start.

Bedroom

If most of your clothes are in drawers, open one drawer and pull out one item to donate.

If most of your clothes are hanging, look through your hanging clothes and pull out one item to donate.

Kitchen

Go to your cooking utensil drawer or utensil crock and find one thing to toss or donate.

Yes, just one.

Laundry Room

Laundry rooms tend to become transition rooms and stopover spots, so take a quick look around and remove anything that belongs somewhere else—maybe the garage, the car, another room, etc.

Now, I can already hear you thinking:

“Nicole, if I toss one small thing in each room, it will take forever to get anything done!”

I get it. You wanted it all done yesterday because it’s stressing you out.

But that’s the key here.

I’m not saying that getting rid of one thing is going to magically organize your entire house. I’m trying to get you into the frame of mind to get rid of one thing or sort one thing in the space.

Because if you can get into that mindset for one thing, you’re already in the mindset to get rid of five or ten.

That’s the momentum part I was talking about.

You might start with the one thing you planned to toss in your bedroom, and suddenly you’ve got a whole bag of donations sitting by the door.

You’ve made progress.

And you feel awesome.

As you should!

So aim for one thing in each room and see what happens.

And if even one thing still feels overwhelming, I’m here for you.

Reach out and let me be part of your tribe. I’d love to support you.
